Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 details revealed on Twitter, DLC also confirmed – Part 1
Fans of the Gran Turismo series have something to look forward to as Polyphony Digital are set to release a major update for the Gran Turismo 5 in a few days time. Titled Spec 2.0, the latest update for the game is a huge leap forward in terms of the changes
and enhancements it brings to the game. The previous update, titled 1.13, only brought two, rather minor, changes when it was released.
However, the visionary behind one of the most authentic driving games, Kazunori Yamauchi, revealed on Twitter that 15 features and changes which would make up the Spec 2.0 update.
Starting things off with something that fans of steering wheel accessories will be glad to hear, as the update will provide support two to Logitech’s more advanced products, namely the Logitech G25 and G27 steering wheels. The physics in the game have also
been tweaked to add a new level of realism and the AI of the computer controlled drivers has also been improved.
Throw in a sweet looking Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport as well, and one can understand why there has been such a huge deal made out of Spec 2.0.
Also confirmed to come with the download are two different NASCAR related features which should make the mode more immersive for fans of cars going around endlessly in circles for hours.
The first NASCAR related feature comes in the Photo Travel mode, as gamers can now take High Definition pictures of their Gran Turismo cars in the new ‘NASCAR Pit Scene’. While it may not exactly be Formula 1, it will not be doing anyone any harm.
Also, eleven new 2011 model NASCAR racing cars do sound like a welcome gift, even though no one is sure whether they will be available for purchase within the game with the in-game currency or automatically join the cars in the user’s garage.
One slightly pointless new feature is that gamers can now have their avatars stand alongside their cars in Photo travel. This may not be to everyone’s liking but seeing how the rest of the improvements add to the core experience, no one is complaining.
Even B-Spec mode has not been left without the odd tweak, as users can now run their B-Spec races on GT.com, with a nice little graph which shows the changes in the rankings of the race. So, gamers can get a slightly richer experience when playing the game’s
mode on their PCs.
To find out what other features Kazunori Yamauchi and his team at Polyphony Digital have in store for Gran Turismo fans, read on in the next part of this article:
