Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition is dated and filled with goodies

Sony are re-releasing the original game with all the Downloadable Content and updates for the game on the same disc, sadly on the for the United States though
Gran Turismo 5 became a year old in November of last year and has seen much change since its original release date. So much so, that Sony Computer Entertainment have deemed it worthy of repackaging and re-releasing complete with all the updates and DLC packs
that have been released for the game to date.
Already released in Japan as Spec II, the game is set to make its way across the Pacific Ocean and onto US soil as the XL Edition. It seems to be keeping in line with the anatomy of the typical American, i.e. Extra Large.
Interestingly enough it seems that Polyphony Digital, the games developers, seemed to have predicted such slights aimed at their American consumer base and the cover is double sided. This means that depending on the level of the consumer’s confidence and
security he or she can either opt to have the XL Edition cover or the Spec II Edition cover on their copy of the game.
The latter has a picture of the Red Bull X2011 Supercar, which alone is reason enough for many to have that on display.
Crude weight jokes aside, the deal does sound like an enticing one for those who have not picked up a copy of the game so far. It comes with the heavy duty update, Ver. 2.0, which saw a number of cosmetic and gameplay changes introduced to the game.
Basically, a large number of user complaints and a fair amount of feedback brought about the update which saw interior views added for all the non-premium (standard) car models as well as a few other tweaks and enhancements.
Along with the Spec II update already pre-installed it will come with every single DLC pack that has been released for the game. That includes the Racing Car Pack (1 and 2), the Racing Gear Pack, Course Pack and lastly, the Paint Pack.
Priced at $39.99, which if one looks at it is not that bad a price considering all the content on offer, despite the fact that it is essentially a re-release of a one year old game, albeit with a whole bunch of add-ons.
Also the fact that the game comes with an extra $20 voucher is another nice incentive as well. Set for release on the 17th of January in the United States, there is no confirmation of whether or not it will cross another ocean and make it to Europe
or the United Kingdom.
