Gran Turismo 5 gets update 2.02 and DLC, free car and car wash included along with other goodies
Kazunori Yamauchi and his talented team at Polyphony Digital have announced another update for Gran Turismo 5 as well as a Downloadable Content pack.
Starting things off with the ‘not-for-free’ bit of the news. The DLC is confirmed to be car pack, or Car Pack 2 as it is officially called, and will include 4 new vehicles for gamers to add to their garages.
Always a fan of Nissan GT-Rs, Yamauchi has included the Nissan GT-R Black edition R35 along with three other auto-vehicles, namely the 2011 Mini Cooper S, the 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R and finally the 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R.
The DLC packs is priced at $4 or $3.99 is the reader tends to fall for psychological pricing tactics and is set to hit the PlayStation Network Store for purchase and download next week.
With the DLC out of the way it is time to move on to the freebies that GT fans can expect to get their hands on with the 2.02 update.
First and foremost, any gamer who downloads the update will get the gorgeous Toyota FT-86 delivered to their garage. Their in-game garage that is.
An announcement from the studio also pointed out that, “As a special gift anyone who purchased anything from the first batch of DLC will get unlock the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards in the game for free.”
It continued, “The refresh cards will take any car back to being ‘as good as new’ while maintaining any modification or paint jobs you have given your motors. To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to install the new downloadable update hitting next
week.”
The refresh cards do sound rather refreshing, but bad jokes aside they seem a rather brilliant idea as some super cars can cost Cr. 100,000 to overhaul and the cards will surely be put to good use by those who get them.
As for the update itself, there are a number of changes and tweaks that will be making their way onto the game. Firstly, gamers can now purchase and install new wheels on the Standard cars, a feature that many are sure to do.
Players will be able to compare the performance points and engine power of their vehicle before they overhaul their engine, install aerodynamic parts, perform oil changes and add racing modifications.
Other changes will include free coupons which can be used to overhaul one’s engine, refresh the body, wash or change the oil of one’s in-game car.
Another major change that gamers are sure to appreciate is the fact that all the Car coupons can be traded in for the vehicles at once, instead of the traditional one coupon traded at a time.
All in all, Gran Turismo 5 seems to be getting more and more complete with each update.
