  1. Only one day!.....I would chose Granada. The Alhambra Palace is a "must see" place. It could take you a day to visit, but why bother, Spain is a wondrous country. Going for one day is simply ridiculous, especially as you have a choice of cities.

  2. Little time: Short answer: Granada (Albyzin quarter and old part of the city in general with Alhambra close by)

  3. I would choose Granada, ( La Alambra must be visited).

Madrid is too big to just squeeze everything into one day...

    Take care..

  4. I tend to agree with those who say Granada for similar reasons...Madrid for one day could be overwhelming because of how big it is and all the different things to do, whereas in Granada you can focus in on the Alhambra (Palace and grounds), Genelife (Summer Palace)  and Albarricin (Old Moorish quarter) and really experience the place. These places are all in the same general area. In Madrid you can only scratch the surface in one day.

PS You could spend all day in a Musuem in Madrid, In Granada visiting the places in mentioned you will be indoors and outdoors as the palaces include gardens fountains etc.

Also, if you are going in the near future, Granada is much cooler than Madrid in the summer -- it's in the foothills of the highest mountains in Spain.

  5. Well if you only have one day, then I would presume that you have a layover or something....then the answer would be Madrid. It is not as easy to get in and out of Granada if you have connecting flights. That said, if I had to spend only one day in either, I would choose Granada. You can see much of the Alhambra in that day, and also get a good feel for the town surrounding the Alhambra that evening when going for dinner......In Madrid, one day, I would not know where to start. Well I do know where I would start, but then I'd end up staying for a week at least.

  6. if you want a normal big, exciting, noisy city go to madrid to at least do the world famous prado art museum & shopping.  if you want a beautiful palace w/ extensive artworks, gardens & architecture in a laid back town, go to granada.  you may have to reserve la alhambra tickets online before you go to make sure you get in .  if you just show up make sure you are there early in the morning to get tickets, also just to have some quiet time walking the grounds.  it get's very crowded.

  7. definitely Madrid. There is so much more to do in Madrid. A great night life and a lot to see. I spent four nights in Madrid, which was enough. I spent one day in Granada and that was more that enough time. Granada is a sleepy town. This is my opinion and you may or may not feel the same. Good luck!
