Grand theft auto San Andreas on PC!?

Hey I have windows vista on my laptop when i try and play gta san andreas i get letters flashing over the screen it worked fine with windows xp but with vista it don't HELP!

It works on mine??, how far in before it goes like that? can you go into the options menu and fiddle with the display setting

ok go into the options and change the all the settings down to the lowest, like screen resolution and stuff
