GrandCentral: If I call my number on the website, can I forward it?

If I call my GrandCentral number in one area code, and I have it forwarding to another number in a different area code, am I still going to be charged long distance?

There is a setting in GC where you can set the Caller ID to be that of the calling party, or that of your GC number.

To do so, log into GC;  go to the "Settings" tab;  then click on "Caller ID" link on left side of window; then click on the radio button:  "Display my GrandCentral number; I will know if the call came through my GrandCentral number"

No, you won't get billed - you are calling your GC number locally - that's all that matters.  GC takes care of the rest.

Any calls you place "through GrandCentral" is free.  Your phone company has nothing to do with the forwarding of the GC calls.  It is all done through GC network.

As you are suggesting, yes I believe you can forward to any number you want and it will be free, as long as you call your GC phone number provided by GC from a local number, as you suggested.

Currently, while GrandCentral is in Beta dev phase, calls forwarded to any USA/Canada PSTN telephone or cell is free.

The only time anyone is charged to call your GC number is if they are calling from out of that area code or local calling area of the GC number.  But if they, or you can access it free, then the forwarding of the calls to your pre-set forwarding numbers (USA/Canada) is free.

I presume that you know that you can make calls to any phone number you set in your "contacts list" for FREE (USA/Canada).

I have done it and it really is free (for now).

As well, I have the GrandCentral "CallMe" button on my web site and anyone who clicks on my icon can call me for free (USA/Canada).
