Grandeur set to make a return – Horseracing News
Grandeur is all set to make a return to the sport. His season will kick off from the Princess of Wales’s boylesports.com Stakes at Newmarket in England.
The four-year-old gelding has got a fantastic record in the sport and he will definitely be the one to watch out for in the Group-2 classic. He will be a bit rusty though and that might put some doubts in the minds of the punters.
According to his trainer, Jeremy Noseda, “Grandeur was highly progressive last year and on another day, if the cards had fallen his way, he would have won the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby. He had a break following his late-season campaign
and we have brought him back with summer and autumn targets in mind.”
He went onto say, “The Princess of Wales’s Stakes will be his starting point and I feel he is on good terms with himself and he’s fit enough to do himself justice. He actually had a gallop on the July course last Saturday (June
29) and I was pleased with that, although he is not an extravagant worker.”
Noseda feels that his challenger is in great form at the moment and he is fully fit too, which is a great sign. As a result, there is every chance that he will be able to dominate his rivals once he comes back.
However, the seasoned trainer was a bit worried about the stamina, as Grandeur has been out of action for quite a long time and he does not have any race practice at all.
The Irish challenger has participated in a total of 12 races until now, winning six of them. He has a great strike rate, which proves that he does not like setting for the second best and has always been competitive at the highest
level.
Other than his victories, the talented runner has finished as a runner up thrice whereas secured the third spot once. His performances in the 2012 season were great and he finished that year on a high, which will give immense confidence
to him. It will be interesting to see how the bookies rate him for the upcoming event.
