  1. I would advise not using lots of this type media.  Children need more of the quiet one-on-one with YOU.  Read to him, play games with him, take him for walks.  He will learn so much in this manner.  Plus he will learn that he has a grandma that will take the time to be with him.

Treasure the precious time with him.  Make some memories.

  2. Go  to the library and check things out for him.  free and he'll love it  go to the childrens section

  3. Aww, just my kinda question.  I have 4 girls... and when they were that age they loved....

    telatubbies

The Wiggles (but they weren't around when my kids were little)

Any show that has puppies or cats in it....(101 dalmatians)

Have you tried "Veggie Tales"?  It is a really innocent and nice show for little kids........

Also, Barney (if you can find it)

Hope that helps...:)  There are really hundreds out there....

Have fun with the grandkids. :)

  4. libraries are a great source to check out DVD's for kids

  5. Go to a local thrift store.  You can probably find some great children's shows on dvd and vcr tapes.  They don't get tired of them, trust me! And if they do, they were only a buck or two.

  6. just keep playing with him

  7. the backyardigans

  8. Thank goodness for children's programming! It allows us to get a quick bathroom break or make a meal for the other kiddos! My boys love those crazy wonder pets too! There's one called Lazy Town, with some pink haired girl, the boys just love all their crazy songs. My older son liked Oobi (on Noggin) a lot when he was about 2.

  9. Play With Me Sesame is the older Sesame Streets, you might also look at Sesame Street itself on PBS.  My 2 year old loved Elmo.  So if you get any of the Elmos World DVDs they would be a hit.  My son also loves the morning line up on the Disney Channel.   The Wiggles, Little Einstiens (though just recently at 26 months so you would have to see), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, the little 5 minute shorts called Go Baby that Disney has, and the Doodlebops.  Really at this age they tend to be all about music.  If he likes trains you might look into Thomas the Train.

Movies my son enjoys are The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Lion King, anything with the Wiggles, classic Mickey cartoons (Best buy has these for 7.99 on DVD), Disney/Pixars Cars (a HUGE hit in our house, he loves the toys that go with it and loved the bedding an Aunt got him.  Cars is great) and recently Finding Nemo.

My son is also really into animals so we have found he loves looking at the flashcards made by Baby Einstien that have animals on them.  We started telling him what the animal was and making the sound, moved on to asking him the sound, now he can tell me the name and sound for most of them.  He is learning, but to him it is just fun.  I have seen these at book stores, babies r us, toys r us, and target and they are $10.  Baby Einstien also has several good books out with real pictures of animals.  My sons favorite is Neighborhood animals.

Hope some of this is what you are looking for.  Good luck and have fun.
