Question:

Grandmother out of control?

My grandmother is 66 years old and dresses like she is 21. She wears really short skirts and skin tight pants. She also likes to go dancing every week and drinks too much. My grandfather died five years ago so i know she is lonely, but come on this is ridiculous. She says i'm acting like an old lady by telling her to tone down. Shouldn't she act her age.

  1. Yes she should but remember people grieve in all different ways. Did she get married young? Maybe she is trying to recapture the youth she might have not had. Try to be supportive of her, even if it might be embarassing. People don't act like that just for no reason. Try and help her find the real reason why she is doing this.

  2. I think Maury Povich would like to have you guys on his show.

  3. When my grandmother died my grandfather did the same thing. He would go to bars , go dancing, and meet  other ladies  .He would buy them expensive things.  My mom asked him why was he doing this for, he said because he was married to long with the same woman , and he didn't really love my grandmother. He was finally free to do what he wanted.  He was finally enjoying life . So he thought. When he died none of these new lovers came to his funeral.

  4. maybe it would be socially polite to not do what she is doing.

but you've never been in her shoes, so don't judge her.  she might feel more than lonley. you have no idea what she feels like she's missed out on in life.  life is short and no one know it like the old folks.

    let her be happy.  myob.

  5. Leave her alone and quit raining on her parade.  I am sorry but hon... you sound like a spoiled brat who judges others.  I am 51... look 40 and flirt.  Let the girl have her fun.... Are you jealous?????

  6. ok what should she act like? like shes dying and sad? well you know what shes doing her thing and shes happy at least it appears she is and that is the only thing she knows to keep herself going so ler her she doesn't have that much time maybe and its ok so mind your own business. you haven t' beent here yet i can hardly wait to see how you act.

  7. wow, Sounds like she is feeling more freedom since your grandpa died.  Maybe instead of telling her how to act/ dress (as she sounds like she gets offended by this) perhaps you could offer to do things with her- go to movies, shopping or go dancing at appropriate places etc-  young things so to speak.

You could also offer to take her shopping for some younger clothes that are suitable for her age and then really complement her and how much better she looks in them- even enlist other family members to help!

Still let her be herself, just in more appropriate ways. And still tell her how much you  love her!

  8. what she does is not any of your business.  leave her alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm sure she is old enough to take care of herself and do as she sees fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. sorry couldnt help but laugh at the title and first sentence.

But seriously,if she married young she could be going through a thing where she feels like she needs to experence youth..I think although it might be somewhat embarassing you need to let her work through it on her own

  10. Let her have her fun and catch up on lost time. Mayb she realizes how short life is after the death of your grandpa. Wouldn't you rather see her having a good time than sitting around being bored for the rest of her life??

  11. Jerry Springer

  12. If she's still got it and can flaunt it, let her do her thing. Long as she's not bringing strange men home you should have nothing to worry about.

She's re-living her youth, I know how hard it must be for you, but be grateful that she's happy and not moping around feeling sorry for herself. I've noticed you haven't said that your parents have a problem with it. Most of her friends have probably passed on....from acting their age.........let granny have her fun~
