she has lived with us for 4 1/2 years.

I have been staying in touch with her,she Cry's all the time, today in class she started crying and asking for memaw

I feel like I need to go and speak with the folks at her school and let them know whats going on,because I'm sure they haven't.

  1. I think as a grandparent, you could go to  the school and give them information that will be helpful to them in helping your grandchild. Do not criticize and bad-mouth her parents ...or say or do anything that could jeopardize your custody action.  You could also consult the lawyer that is helping you file for legal guardianship.    I wish you well in that proceeding.

  2. .  It is wonderful that you have helped this child for so long.  I have the feeling that she will come back to you sooner than you think.  A little crying will break your heart but the child will get thru this.  Don't say or do anything to the dad that will make him hate you.  It would be very easy for him to blame you for all his troubles and never let you see her.  Whenever you speak to him, do not talk about the child.  Only ask him if he has had lunch or dinner? If not would he like to come over?  Still don't talk about the child. If the child comes to dinner, don't fuss over her. Act like her being there is no big deal. Are you a good actress?  If you are, you can get her back faster.

  3. I would talk to CPS as well as the folks at the school. If the child isn't being taken care of, then something needs to be done and in a big hurry.

If you can afford it, get a lawyer involved.
