Grands Crus likely to dominate proceedings in RSA Chase
The bookmakers have shown confidence in the abilities of Grands Crus, giving him the best odds for RSA Chase (Grade 1) at Cheltenham in England on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The winner of the event will bag a cash prize of £74,035.
A total of nine runners have been attracted towards the 3 mile 110 yard event, which will start at 2:40 GMT. The entries confirmed for the race are: Grands Crus, Bobs Worth, First Lieutenant, Join Together, Call The Police, Lambro, Walkon, Cannington Brook
and Mr Moonshine.
David Pipe’s trainee, Grands Crus, will most likely dominate proceedings today, as he has been in superb form over the past few months. He has entered three chase races, winning all of them, which suggests that he is in sublime form at the moment.
The seven-year-old gelding recently completed a hat-trick of victories, after he won the Williamhill.com Feltham Novices’ Chase at Kempton in December, last year. He dominated the rest of the pack and won by a comfortable margin of over two lengths.
It will not be a hard decision for the punters to place maximum bets on the favourite runner, who will be ridden by Tom Scudamore. The veteran jockey has been impressive in his career, winning 123 races while chasing. He will be eying another solid show
at Cheltenham today.
Nicky Henderson’s trained gelding, Bobs Worth, might manage to cause a few problems for the race favourite, as he is in decent rhythm at the moment. The seven-year-old runner has taken part in three chase races, winning one of them. In addition to that,
he has got a runner up and third place finish each to his name.
Bobs Worth will be partnered by Barry Geraghty, who has an impressive strike rate in chase races. He has won 91 of them and will be looking forward to completing his century in this season.
Another runner, who can cause a few problems for the race favourite, is First Lieutenant. He has won two races while chasing, but does not have a good strike rate, as he has taken part in five of such events.
M. F. Morris’ trainee will be ridden by D. N. Russell, who is relatively new to the sport and might find things a bit challenging at Cheltenham today.
It seems that the real battle will be between the top two favourites, as they are in very good shape at the moment.
