Grands Crus to test his stamina for Gold Cup in Argento Chase
Grand Crus, trained by David Pipe, is all set to undergo an acid test in the Argento Chase race against 12 experienced competitors at Cheltenham track on Saturday, January 28. This competition will be a milestone to judge the horse’s credentials for
the upcoming mega event, called the Gold Cup which is scheduled to begin on February 12.
In the Grade 2 race, Grands Crus will compete against Captain Chris, Carruthers, Diamond Harry, Knockara Beau, Little Josh, Master Of The Hall, Midnight Chase, The Minack, The Sawyer, Tidal Bay, Any Currency and Time For Rupert.

The race will start at 2:35pm.
The 7-year-old horse is officially rated at 159. Owned by Roger Stanley & Yvonne Reynolds III, he started his career on October 25, 2009, and finished 9th in his maiden race.
Overall, the novice horse has run 14 races so far, including 2 NHF, 9 Hurdle and 3 Chase. His total victories are 7, and accumulated earning is £219,505.
The stylish horse was bred by Jean-Marie Prost Alamartine. Thus, he owns a marvellous legacy, helping him thrive in his career.
Saturday’s race will be quite significant for Grands Crus, whose trainer wants him to win at every cost. He is regarded as the 5-2 favourite for the event. Thus, he has an additional responsibility.
Among Grands Crus’ potential competitors include Captain Chris and Time For Rupert. The duo possesses an excellent track record.
Time For Rupert’s trainer, Paul Webber, is expecting a startling performance from his horse, who seems to be in great form.
While speaking to the local media yesterday, Webber said:
“He has been in wonderful form since Newbury, and we are very pleased with him. His last run was just what we wanted - a bit of confidence restoring after a baptism of fire at Haydock against Kauto Star in such tremendous form. It was a real learning
curve for Rupert running against those sort of horses and I am sure he has benefited from it.”
However, all eyes are hinged on Grands Crus while Pipe works hard for the preparation of his horse in the high stakes clash.
