Esteban Granero rarely got a chance to represent Real Madrid in their first-team and after joining Queens Park Rangers the Spanish midfielder has refused to blame his former club for his exit.
Esteban Granero started his career from Real Madrid, but last season he had to leave for greener pastures as he did not get enough first-team opportunities at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Even though Granero left Los Blancos because he did not get enough time on the pitch, the Spanish midfielder has claimed that leaving Santiago Bernabeu is not Los Blancos’ fault but his own.
Granero believes that in order to play in Real Madrid you have to be the best in the world and that is definitely not anything bad.
While speaking about how hard it is to play for Los Blancos, Esteban Granero said:
“To play in Real Madrid’s first team you must be one of the best players in the world. That is not a bad thing because that’s how it is.”
“If you are a youngster that comes through at a club that is inferior then it is a lot easier, but in Madrid it’s more difficult.”
“That does not mean the youth team is not good. It means that Real Madrid is the best team in the world to play for, so if it was easy it would mean the team is not so great and not so good.”
While defending Real Madrid, the Spaniard said that Real Madrid always helps younger players to grow and gave the example of the legendary shot-stopper, Iker Casillas, and the Spanish full-back, Alvaro Arbeloa.
Both these players have evolved from Real Madrid’s youth system and Granero believes that Los Blancos gave them a fair chance to prove themselves to stay in the first-team.
While speaking about these players, Granero also spoke about Juan Mata, who is now a part of Chelsea, even though he is an extraordinary player. While speaking about Mata, Granero said:
“There are also those that are no longer there like myself and Juan Mata. That’s not Real Madrid’s fault.”
Esteban Granero is currently a part of the Premier League outfit, Queens Park Rangers, a team which is finding it hard to survive in the Premier League this season.
