Grant Bradburn terms EPT experience as landmark for players – Cricket News Update
Grant Bradburn, the manager of New Zealand A, opines that the experience of playing in the Emerging Players Tournament (EPT), which started on July 26 and ended on August 13, will go a long way to assist the young players in their domestic competitions.
He has termed the tournament exposure as an ‘absolute gold’ for the youngsters who are now preparing for their home season.
Though New Zealand team have not won more than a game, the team manager believes that playing in competitive international environment has enhanced the cricketers’ skills and emboldened their confidence.
Talking to the media today, Bradburn said, “Playing competitive international cricket at this time of year in those conditions is just absolute gold for their preparation leading into our summer. All those guys that got experience there will be that much
better off for our domestic season."
He further told, “The whole concept gets a big plus in terms of the opportunities players were presented with. There's clearly opportunities at the Black Caps level and some guys have advanced their standing and taken the chance to put themselves further
forward towards that recognition."
Bradburn has also showered great praise on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Doug-Bracewell-c1394 who piled up 91 runs and grabbed five wickets in the three T20 games of the tournament and maneuvered the only victory for New Zealand A in 5th T20 match against South Africa Emerging Players.
The manager thinks that the Kiwis have learnt a lot from the EPT and now they are able to play the First-Class and List A cricket with confidence. He has regarded this opportunity as equal to that of playing for the national side.
Bradburn is of the view that the tournament has disclosed to the players their fault lines and they have come to know where they need improvement.
The EPT, which featured four teams, including India Emerging Players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 Emerging Players, commenced on July 26 with a T20 match between India and New Zealand.
The tournament was held at Brisbane, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 Emerging Players finally emerged as winners of the tournament.
