Grant Lang was the winner of the last hand of the night at Day 2 of the event, raising the bet from under the gun to begin the hand. Sitting in the middle position, Jared Bleznik, called to acknowledge the bet, followed by a late call from Vanessa Slebst out of the big blind. A king of hearts, two of spades and two of diamonds fell on the flop and Selbst checked. A raise of 8,200 came from Lang, with the two other contestants calling immediately.
An ace of diamonds came on the turn and Slebst checked again but Lang threw in 30,000 more chips in the pot. Bleznik folded after the turn, followed by a well-thought call from Slebst before a five came on the river.
Lang revealed his two and six of hearts, nailing three of a kind to finish strongly and dejected Slebst blinked a king to Lang with a deep sigh to admit his defeat.
“Missed 100,000 on the river,” expressed Slebst after losing the last hand of the night. “How do you raise 6-2 under the gun and get the flop to come K-2-2? Teach me,” she continued addressing Lang.
“It isn’t easy,” uttered Lang with a broad smile while collecting the huge pot to get on top of the leaders’ board for the night.
Grant Lang          - 382,000

Vanessa Slebst   - 148,000
Average chip count for at the end of Day 2 remains 110,872. Lang will be taking off the Day 3 with his bulky chip count, pressing forward to come out as the new WPT champion at the Five Diamonds World Poker Classic.
