  1. Well, graphic designers work for advertising agencies and design firms. They also work in the design, advertising, or communication departments of large companies. Many graphic designers work as independent freelancers, but not all of them. So if you choose to be a graphic designer, you don't have to worry about freelancing your entire career. Just look for employment in advertising or at large companies. Graphic designers are needed in a lot of projects.Getting your high school diploma is the first step in becoming a graphic designer. High school courses in art, design, English, and computers are especially useful for this career. To become a graphic designer you must also have training after high school. Most graphic designers obtain formal post-secondary training in graphic design, usually in the form of a certificate, diploma, or degree from a college or university. Post-secondary training is necessary for learning the basics of design, typography, illustration, graphics software use, and the printing and production processes. Most new graphic designers have a college diploma. Diplomas take about 3 years to complete, whereas a bachelor’s degree generally takes 4 years. Certificates can often be completed in a year. Aspiring graphic designers should also put together portfolios of their best art and design work. Design program admissions boards and employers both expect applicants to have strong portfolios. Courses that develop your speaking and writing skills are helpful, since graphic designers must be able to communicate effectively with their clients. In addition, you might consider taking some business courses. Senior-level designers and freelancers may spend a significant amount of their time dealing with responsibilities such as marketing, budgeting, and business management. For journalism, you can try for spots in local newspapers, and then move your way up from there to magazines or well-known newspapers.Print journalists work in the offices of newspaper, magazine, trade journal, and wire service companies. When they are gathering information, they work wherever their stories take them. This means they may spend a lot of time travelling around their local area, across the country, or even overseas. There are not many physical challenges involved in a journalist’s day-to-day activities, unless they are reporting from a war-torn country or a natural disaster area. However, they do have to deal with any stress caused by covering difficult stories and having to meet deadlines. Although most print journalists work an average of 40 to 50 hours a week, they may have irregular schedules. Newspaper journalists may have to work late into the night to cover important, late-breaking stories. Those who work on a freelance basis have the freedom to set their own hours, as long as they meet their deadlines. So if you don't want to travel, this may not be the right career for you.

I think that you should be a graphic designer if that is what you are passionate about and really want to be. What you want is something that you'll be happy doing for the rest of your life. To me it sounds like graphic design is something that you would be really good at, so I'd encourage you to go for that. Good luck with whatever you choose!
