Question:

Graphing equations? ?

For the equation:

0.2x=5y+1

put 1 on the other side and divide by 5

and i get

y= 1/25x-1/5

Making a x and y table, how would I find terms that would be whole numbers? Or is fractions as answers okay?; I just don't really know how to graph fractions ...

  1. y = (0.04)x-0.2

    You can use fractions.

    I usually start with x=0, just because y is easy to calculate.

  2. You can get rid of the fractions if you want.

    At the beginning, multiply the whole equation by 10 to get rid of the decimal point.

    10 ( 0.2x=5y+1 )

    10 * .2x = 10 * 5y + 10 * 1

    2x = 50y + 10

    2x - 10 = 50y

    (2x - 10) / 50 = y

    See if that helps to find whole number values.

    Good luck to you !

  3. fractions are ok
