Graphite shaft help?

I would like to purchase a new set of graphite shaft irons. I want a good set for the money. I don't wish to spend over $300, until I improve my game. Women's irons, would be ideal; however, if the best deal would be men's irons, I do not mind. What do you recommend? Thanks.

  1. Go to Golf Galaxy or Golf Smith.. they always have some good deals... look for Callaway Ladies Flex or King Cobra Ladies flex..... or Adams Golf has some good sets (ladies too) for under $300

  2. I suggest Cobra s9. thats what i use now but they are $500 for 5-pw right now at golfdiscount.com i cant really think of any good brands that are a full set for $300. you could always just get a few clubs. Cobra S9 is the best! but check out golfdiscount.com for other brands. there are sum good deals

  3. You could possibly find some Senior irons that are graphite mens but they might be to long. For women's irons I'm not sure

shop around at golf discount stores and pro shops. A good bet for any beginner golfer is the pawn shop you may just find what your looking for!

  4. Costco.com - The Prince lady set is pretty darn good.  Full set.  I purchased these for my daughter and I love them.  The irons are good, the Driver is well beyond what I was expecting.  I can nail this thing about 200 on the fly.  (not sure the model number, but it is light blue.)   They were in the store in the winter.

  5. steel shafts are a better choice if you are young and able... it is also cheaper and easier to control your shots.

I think you should look for a used set of cavity back irons for around 300 dollars like some callaway X-20

  6. It's gonna be hard to find a good set of irons for under $300  with graphite shafts.  Cobra has a great set that I'm wanting for $400 w/ good Aldila NV shafts.  Even Adams don't have any now for under $500.  I'm hitting an older model of those Cobras and love them.

  7. Kate -

    Ask and ye shall receive:

Here is a set for $150 bucks shipped right to your door:

And here is a link to multiple other new sets for under $300.00

    Good Luck!

  8. Steel shaft are lighter than before these days.  Take NS Pro shafts, they weight about 90 grams compared to graphite in the 70 grams range.

For ladies, I would recommend Nike NDS.  Trust me they are very forgiving.   They sell about $200 USD at ebay.

  9. Stay with steel shafts.

  10. All shafts including graphite have different flexs and kick points as well as weigh different amounts.  How can you say you want graphite when you don't know if it fits your swing speed and arch?

You need to spend some time, money and effort to find your correct shaft.   Both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine have their equipment issues this month so I would start ny nuying those magazines.    Find someone local that can evaluate your swing and most important, so go a test center where you can try different models.
