I have a grappling tournament coming up and I need to find ways to train. Im already practicing my Judo groundwork and my other groundwork. I'm also doing about 20 minutes a day on a exercise bike to drop my weightclass (just about 1 pound or so off).

  1. Dude your question is a bit difficult to answer.

We assume you are already a club grappler with a grappling and conditioning  program?

Then do you need more partners, more sparring, more cardio?

The best general tips I can give you leading up to a comp are firstly you don't have to cut any weight off. 1 pound is like 15minutes sweating on the day,  hardly worth worrying about.

Conditioning wise keep sparring and conditioning yourself as normal until about 2-3 weeks out. Then cut out any intense weight lifiting to recover your strength for the comp.

If you want to do weights do lighter ones, more functional cardio types preferably, plus your normal sparring and cardio etc.

The last week reduce sparring intensity so as to prevent injury.
