  1. Manure works excellent on gardening

  2. Taters??  We grow anywhere in anything!!

    No...really.....

I've never heard of "grass manure" so I'm not sure if you mean cow/horse/animal manure of grass fed animals, or grass clippings that have been composted and may be mixed with manure that has also been composted.  Personally, I use both and the answer is: sure...it's fine.

One thing though...if you mean the actual "manure"...like...fresh from the feild next door...please remember that manure is "hot".  It heats up as it breaks down and could over heat your potatoe spuds.....

    Once composted, it's fine.

A little late to be planting potatoes though....unless you are thinking of fall for the spring....

If your are.....in that case, put your manure at the bottom of the heap, load your brown leaves and clippings on top, put in your potatoes, top with more leaves, clippings, and finally manure, and as the manure "cooks" it will keep your spring taty spuds dormant to grow come spring....

I've also grown them in a wire cage: manure on bottom for warmth, humus, then spuds and a thin layer of humus on top.  Then, as the plant grows, just keep adding leaves and lightweight coverage that will break down/compost right on top of the plant.  The plant grows up, more potatoes form under the soil that is being added etc....  That way, when ready, you simply pull the cage off (no digging of tateys) the composted dirt gets spread (o.k...so don't wear sandals for this part), and you get your tateys right at your feet.....

Also...since potatoes are heavy feeders, you can harvest them, and the "amendment" is already sitting there just waiting to get tilled in...and you can do your late summer into early frost greens where the potatoes used to be!!

    Good luck and happy gardening!!

  3. Yes it should be fine whether it be miracle grow, or cow or horse manure. Best of luck with your potatoes!
