Grateful dead question.?

hello, i'm a musician i think i'm allowed to finally call my self that way, the grateful dead are my favorite band, when i gave my father to listen to them (he is a musician in such level which almost doesnt exist anymore) he said they sound very ummm.. i forgot the correct word but anyway not so good, does any1 been to one of their concerts or have some more extended knowledge then i do to tell me how much of professional musicians they were?..

They can have a sloppy sound many of the time, but not being able to hit vocals all the time is not a very good reflection of musicianship.  The Grateful Dead are amazing musicians, and your dad may just not "get it" as Deke put it "You either get them or you don't, I'm just glad I do"
