Question:

Gravel or asphalt millings for driveway?

I have a 340 foot gravel driveway that was built when my house was built 6 years ago. The driveway is in need of more gravel.

A coworker of mine has a similar sized driveway and said he used asphalt millings instead of gravel.

Has anyone else ever used asphalt millings for their driveway? What are the benefits vs. gravel?

  1. The asphalt might be cheaper.

The darker color might help with melting snow if that's a factor.

  2. the millings aren't round like gravel and should stay in one place better...crushed stone is also better than gravel...
