A stone is dropped from the top of a cliff. It hits the ground below after 3.50 s. How high is the cliff in meters?

  1. use the formula s=ut+(1/2)at^2.

    here as the stone fall in the direction of gravity it's acceleration is positive.

    putting in the values,and assuming the stone was initially at rest,we get s=(1/2)*a*t^2=0.5*9.81*3.5^2=60.08m


  2. The stone hit the baseball that was hit straight up in the air and therefore everything was canceled out and we as a species lived happily ever after.
