how do  you  define  a "GREAT" American.

I've  never  heard  of  this  guy  but  he  "seems"  to  be  credited  with it  here.

although  i would  have  thout it  a much older  expression

Are you asking who wrote this or what it means? If your asking who came up with it, well, I don't know who came up with it, but that's not important. What's important is it's meaning because anybody can think of this or says this. Life is what you make of it. If you want to be happy, you have to play by the rules and work and study hard.
