Great Britain announced the long squad for the 2012 Olympic Games

BMX and Mountain Bike squads have been announced by the British Cycling for the biggest sporting event of the year, the 2012 Olympic Games.
The authority made the announcement during a press conference in Manchester and the team will now be accompanied by David Millar at the road event.
Millar admitted the use of EPO in 2004and the cyclist has frequently denied participating at the Olympics until yesterday.
David Brailsford is the Cycling Performance Director and he is happy with the selected squad, “We have selected what I believe to be an excellent team going into the Olympic Games,” he cited.
“We have a good mix of experienced Olympians alongside young riders who are making their debuts,” he briefed.
Reigning UCI World Champion Mark Cavendish is most likely to lead the side at the home event and the Manxman is enjoying a terrific form and is most likely to grab gold at the coming event.
The 27-year-old has filled his bag with numerous victories in the 2012 season including stage victories at the Tour of Qatar, Tirreno-Adriatico and the Giro d’ Italia.
Cavendish has won gold for his nation on four different occasions and his first successful gold pursuit came during the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
He succeeded during the 2005, 2008 and the 2011 World Championships and helped Great Britain with a much needed victory at the race.
The final team announcement will be made later on as confirmed by David Brailsford, “We still have some decisions to make – for example the road team will be refined in due course”.
“Overall though, the GB Cycling Team has had a strong season across all disciplines and we are ready to step up again at the Olympics”.
