Great Britain’s Alison Young satisfied with performance in 2012 Laser Radial World Championships
At the end of 2012 Laser Radial World Championships proceedings, Great Britain’s Alison Young clinched the fourth podium place with 74 points after taking part in 12 races on Boltenhagen waters in Germany.
Two of the scheduled races were discarded from the overall results which formulated the final leader-board which was eventually occupied by Scheidt Gintare.
Young had a slow start of the regatta as she clinched 39th podium finish in the opening race which shattered her confidence badly. However, she bounced back into the regatta with two bullets and a second finish in the next three races to move
up in the standings.
The British sailor was aiming to hit the top spot in the standings and was in a good shape. However, a ninth finish in the fifth race took her down in the result board once again.
A fourth and a third podium finish gave her a little confidence that she can make it to the top three places again but unfortunately she was not able to repeat her good form in the next two races and clinched two lower positions in the eighth and ninth race.
Race 10 brought good news for her as she crossed the finish line in the fifth spot. Nevertheless, Young failed to finish on time in 11th race and was disqualified. Result of the final race was yet another lower position on 19th spot.
Despite her unexpected performance, Young is still satisfied with her performance and is aiming to make an appearance in the upcoming competitions.
