Great Britain’s Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark happy to clinch 2012 470 World Championship title
Great Britain sailors Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark performed tremendously in the 2012 470 World Championships on the Barcelona waters and successfully made their way to the top of the fleet with 65 points and were able to clinch the championship title.
The British pair secured the title after sailing tremendously in 13 races, which also included a discarded race. Despite the fact that the weather on Barcelona waters was not so supportive on particular days and they had to postpone the regatta proceedings,
the British pair did not lose their top spot and kept their good form intact.
Mills and Clark had a slow start in the event as they finished on lower podiums because of some lower finishes in the beginning. However, in the middle of the championship, the duo bounced back brilliantly to finish on top of the fleet standings which they
kept until the end of the event. Mills was overjoyed after hitting the championship title.
While speaking to the local media, she thanked god and said that the regatta duration at Barcelona had been a long week for them and due to fluctuating wind conditions, as a couple of days were longer than the events usually are. She added that due to close
competition, there was no real room for error from the beginning.
Mills further said that crossing the finish line on the final day of the championship was really cool and at that time they knew that they had done enough. Mills expressed that they have learnt a whole lot this week, on how they need to sail to win, their
strengths and weaknesses and about staying consistent.
