Great Britain’s West Kirby Teams dominate ISAF World Team Racing Championships at Schull Harbour
Great Britain dominated the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) World Team Racing Championships, as the West Kirby Teams, West Kirby Hawks and West Kirby Youth, won their respective divisions’ titles. Both teams had a superb sail on Scull Harbour waters
in Ireland, to stay on top of the standings at the end of the event.
The final day of ISAF World Team Racing Championships started under light weather conditions, as the lighter south westerly wind gusted over the harbour in the very beginning of the day. Later on, the breeze shifted its direction north westerly and remained
until the end of final day.
The final day at Schull Harbour started with Youth World Championships races. The British West Kirby Youth team sailed tremendously in the final race against the host club, Schull Community College, and successfully grabbed the top place. The helmsmen, Cameron
Douglas, Ben Robinson and Sophie Shepherd along with the crew did their part remarkably to lift their team.
On the other hand, West Kirby Hawks clinched an early lead in the final day’s races after convincing victories. Helmsmen, Andy Cornah, Ben Field and Dom Johnson were quite satisfied with the performance from their crew members, Hamish Walker, Tom Foster
and Deborah Steele. New York Yacht Club’s Team Extreme representing United States of America took second place.
