O.k. so please don't tell me to go to sparknotes or whatever because they don't provide the answer or idea I need about this one passage. So anyways, I don't get the passage where Pip, Joe, and Mrs. Joe are having Christmas dinner with Uncle Pumblechook, Mr. Hubble, Mrs, Hubble, and Mr. Wopsle, and Uncle Pumblechook agrees with Mr. Wopsle about that day's homily being unimportant and how there are more important subjects than what the homily pertained to that day. So Uncle Pumblechook says to Mr. Wopsly, "You've hit it sir! Plenty of subjects going about, for them that know how to put salt upon their tails. That's what's wanted. A man need't go far to find a subject if he's ready with his salt-box." Then Mr. Pumblechook adds, "Look at Pork alone. There's a subject! If you want a subject, look at Pork!" What the heck does this mean with pork and salt upon their tails and how does it have to do with what they were talking about? Please explain, I'm very mucho confused! :)
