Great Heavens bags her first graded success in the Bet365 Lancashire Oaks fifty minutes before Nathaniel grabbed the Coral-Eclipse
The lightly raced three-year-old bay sister is nothing less than the far more accomplished full brother, Nathaniel. The brother sister duo raced in for the mesmerizing success of the connections as Great Heavens landed the Group 2 Bet365 Lancashire Oaks (Fillies & Mares) on 7th July, 2012 at Haydock over a mile and four furlongs, just fifty minutes before Nathaniel bagged the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
Galileo’s daughter posted in the third success from the as many attempts that she undertook during the season, and thus got entitled to a hat trick.
Riding under jockey, Robert Havlin, the favourite winner drew clear when there were still last two furlongs to go, and was in complete command of the final furlong. She was the undisputed and impressive winner with a lead of five lengths which made Shimmering Surf settle the closest.
As the connections promised about the excitement of the sensational successes of the Coral-Eclipse winner, Nathaniel, they guaranteed it for his sister too.
'She keeps improving, she was getting 13lb from the older horses so I thought I would make it a good gallop and make them pay for it,' said Havlin. 'The family improves with age so I'm sure there's more to come. She galloped all the way to the line and I eased her up.'
"She's just really powerful and stretched away from them through the ground. She's very tough and stays well."
Lady Rothchild’s bay filly broke her maiden through the seasonal debut on 10th May, 2012 in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Yarmouth over a mile and three and a half furlongs.
The evening’s favourite won by the margin of three lengths.
The next stop for the three-year-old was in the Lord Weinstock Memorial Stakes (Registered As The Ballymacoll Stud Stakes) (Listed Race) (Fillies) on 14th June, 2012 at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs.
The favourite won the race unchallenged, and with a comfortable lead of 2 ¼ lengths. Settling as the runner up was, Miss Cato.
The John Gosden trained added a graded success on her profile through the fourth outing of the career.
