Great Heavens’ next stop – Darley Irish Oaks at Curragh on 22nd July
The three-year-old bay filly, Great Heavens has given all and more reason to her trainer, John Gosden for reviewing and selecting future options for her. Galileo’s bay filly out of mare, Magnificent Style, is being considered seriously for the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh race course on 22nd July.
Gosden said: "We can look at the Irish Oaks as a possibility, we could supplement her - I never enter in the Irish Classics at the early stages because they are very expensive."
He added: "I was impressed with her at Haydock, she finished in a time a second faster than the Old Newton Cup and she went through the ground very well."
The Group 1 Coral-Eclipse winner Nathaniel’s full sister gained herself this esteemed possibility by landing the Group 2 Bet365 Lancashire Oaks on 7th July, 2012 at Haydock over a mile and four furlongs. In companion ship with jockey, Robert Havlin, she defeated the favourite entry of the race, Shimmering Surf, by amazing five lengths.
This was on the same day when Nathaniel raced to success in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
"She's just really powerful and stretched away from them through the ground. She's very tough and stays well,” commented the proud jockey and also added that the family has the trait of improving with age and the connections are highly anxious of what she pans out in the future with her brilliance and resilience.
The race at Curragh will be her fifth outing of the season and the fourth of the current season. Winning the Darley Irish Oaks will extend the hat trick of the Lady Rothschild owned to four wins in a row.
She cleared her maiden stakes on 10th May at Yarmouth over a mile and 3 ½ lengths in the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Maiden Stakes. She broke the margin by three lengths.
The three-year-old then made the most out of the Lord Weinstock Memorial Stakes on 14th June, 2012 at Newbury over a mile and two furlongs. This time she defeated the runner-up, Miss Cato, by 2 ¼ lengths.
How proud will her next attempt do the connections will unfold soon.
