Great Kicker and Roanstar of significant interest to the bookies for the Royal Bath & West Novices Handicap Chase
Royal Bath & West Novices Handicap Chase will be held at Taunton on 1st March, 2012. The race will cover a distance of 2 miles and 110 yards and the 5 runners will be competing for a purse of £5,198.
The line-up consists of the following runners:
Akarshan,
Cantabilly,
Edlomond,
Roanstar, and
Great Kicker.
Roanstar is trained by Chris Gordon and he is a tough competitor to beat. He makes for an exciting race as the speculators highly anticipate his performance.
The son of Act One, out of Dolce Thundera, finished as a runner-up in his most recent race.
He was defeated by Rody by 2 ½ lengths, in the Fernie Handicap Chase, which took place at Leicester, on 16th February, 2012.
He was prominent runner and chased leader until he was 4 out, then fell behind.
This performance was remarkably better as the 5-year-old finished in 8th place in the Haygain Hay Steamers – Clean Healthy Hay Novices’ Hurdle, which took place on 22nd January, 2012, at Towcester.
Great Kicker, son of Great Palm, out of Keep The Change, is becoming popular in the market despite his unimpressive performance in his most recent race.
The 7-year-old gelding finished 15th in a line-up of 18 runners, in the Bathwick Tyres “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle, at Wincanton, on 21st January, 2012.
Akarshan, son of Intikhab, out of Akdara, finished in third place, in the Enjoy The Horizons Restaurant Experience Maiden Stakes, at Wolverhampton, on 13th February, 2012. He was defeated by Stars In Your Eyes and Mister Fizz.
Evan Williams took pride in his most recent performance as the 7-year-old gelding finished 1st in the Attwood Memorial Trophy Handicap Chase, at Ludlow, on 22nd February, 2012.
He defeated race favourite, Esteem by 5 lengths.
Edlomond, trained by Bill Turner, secured a placed finish in his recent race.
The son of Great Palm, out of Samardana, stood third in Attheraces.com Track Your Favourite Horse Maiden Hurdle, which was held at Plumpton, on 30th January, 2012. He was defeated by Montbazon and Victor Leudorum.
Based on the popularity in the market, it looks like Roanstar will take the lead in this one.  He is gaining bets from the punters.
Great Kicker is creating a buzz from the bookmakers as well. His connections are hoping that he will be able to live up to the expectations and deliver an exciting race.
Edlomond and Akarshan have been performing well nothing can be said for certain about how they will perform.
