Question:

Great Parnassus?

My boyfriend and I are looking at going to Cancun with an all-inclusive resort. We have decided on the Great Parnassus... It is a new hotel... and was wondering what people's reactions were. (Obviously answer if you have been there! or have another, cheap suggestion) - I looked on tripadvisor and yahoo travel, and they have two totally different responses. I tend to like tripadvisor.com because the reviews are more recent.

  1. I have not been to Great Parnassus but I trust tripadvisor reviews. They are candid reviews from travelers like your self. They also have photos taken by guests of the hotel.

When I check a site for reviews, I throw out the reviews that are overly gushy and I throw out the complainers. Some where in the middle is the truth. I know what bothers me and my hubby and I know what pleases us, that's how I determine if a resort is for us.

Oh, I almost forgot, even though a resort is all-inclusive, tip the staff especially the bartender/waiter and house keeper a few dollars. It goes a long way. We bring 100 dollar bills and use most of them. The housekeepers will love you. I would put 2 dollars under the pillow every day and we always had plenty of towels, shampoo and the room sparkled. Our waiter on the beach, brought us 2 drinks each every time we ordered. You don't have tip big, just a few dollars will do the trick. And if a drink is to weak ask for more liquor the next time.

Good luck and I'm sure you will have a great time if you choose Great Parnassus.)

  2. The Golden Parnassus is better...no kids!

  3. I recommend that if you travel to Cancun, and you are not taking your kids along, you should consider an adults only property. The Golden Parnassus, suggested above, is the sister resort of the Great Parnassus. The difference is that the Golden Parnassus is adults only, an older property, but on a beautiful stretch of beach. The Great Parnassus is geared mostly toward families with kids, and is on a narrower stretch of beachfront.

For more choices, I suggest you consider the Barcelo Tucancun, Park Royal, Sunset Royal and the further away but wonderful Bel Air Collection. If you are open to European Plan resorts (price includes room only), I recommend the Hilton Golf & Spa Resort, Hyatt Caribe, Me by Melia and perhaps the Marriott CasaMagna.

    I hope this helps,
