Question:

Great Pyramid - Girdle stones

On the way up to the kings chamber - past the lower blocking stones that were tunneled around, are 4 solid granite "girdle stones" and 3 similar stones made in 2 parts. These were already carved with holes right through the middle - to match the main passageway. At the top, was another series of channels - 4 - but only contained two port-cullis type stones when it was opened in the 1800's.

(read more here - http://www.hunkler.com/pyramids/pyramid_tour.html )

As these are "free floating" - they look like they were also port-cullis stones meant to block the passageway, but have been REWORKED - BUT NOT RE-USED when the pyramid was sealed the second time.

They were not lifted - they were tunneled through - then finished neatly. Where were the missing port cullis stones at the top ?

Further evidence of reworking would be the airshafts in the Queens chamber - that went all the way down - but stopped short - covered by more blocks inside, or made abrupt turns - negating their original use as line of sight to the stars.

Is the "escape shaft" actually an early attempt at quarrying an entrance INTO the pyramid?

Was this pyramid OPENED in Egyptian times - and copied to construct others ? - Then reworked inside to be used as a tomb ?

  1. When I look at this particular pyramid I get the distinct impression that it is a rework. I think it was originally planned as a smaller pyramid, but the project was expanded after being partially built, thus the queen's chamber and the vent passages that end in white limestone.

Once the stones were in place for the original, it wouldn't be worthwhile to remove them, so the existing chambers and passages were just left in place. This IMO puts a lot of these anomalies in context.

  2. No, you'll need to dig a little further. They found holes in the stones and some of the original wires or cabling that was used to lower the stones in place. It was a one way trip. They've found the ancient wiring and figured out how it was used. Yes, they had the use of electricity and some of the Egyptian drawings depict the generators and the lights that were used.
