Great Rowing Championship in New Zealand’s Lake Karapiro
Great Britain’s men’s and women’s lightweight double scullers had gone through the semi-finals and successfully won the first two gold in the finals at the world championship in New Zealand’s Lake Karapiro.
Mark Hunter and Zac Purchase overruled in the competition and win in 7:13:47. The Great Britain Rowing team men’s lightweight Team consists of Chris Bartley, Richard Chambers, Rob Williams and Paul Mattrick touched their destination line and became the pioneers
in making history by winning a hat-trick of Olympic class gold’s at the World Championship. The amateur contestants were silver medallists in the senior Great Britain’s rowing team, including Scotland’s Heather Stanning, Cornwall’s Helen Glover and Alan Campbell.
They were all behind the New Zealand opposition in the final race of the day of the men’s single scull.
The Great Britain’s rowing team’s performance Director David Tanner appreciating the lightweight men’s four, who miraculously broke Great Britain’s World Championship’s gold medal record. In the men’s pair, both Pete and Andy executed one of their finest
presentations ever in the legendary struggle only to achieve the prized honour with New Zealanders. He further added that Alan Campbell closely defeated Make Drysdale on the line and successfully won his second world championship’s medal but surely the outrageous
presentation of an event was demonstrated by Heather Stanning and Helen Glover in the women’s pair. They played fearlessly to achieve GB’s first silver world championship. The only lightweight women’s quadruple scull which was lost by them; they stood fourth
in a race which was won by Germany.
Tom Aggar, Paralympics champion has proved to be a living legend in the world ever by leading the final race of the Paralympics-class at the world championship in New Zealand.
Aggar crossed the first 100m of the final race in 5:19:36 and won the race. He said that he felt fantastic and all the hard time he faced in training and gym lead them to this achievement. In the finals, the silver medal presented to the British mixed adaptive
group four as they stood second in the competition.
The British group of mixed adaptive four included Kate Jones, Ryan Chamberlain, Kelsie Gibson and James Roe.
While Germany stood third in the competition, Ryan Chamberlain and the 17-year old Kelsie Gibson are the part of British Paralympics Association and working as the talent identification in GB Rowing team and in their developing scheme. Helen Glover was extracted
from the competition at the eleventh hour due to the diagnosed respiratory dysfunction by the doctors of GB Rowing team.
In women, Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins became the centre of attention and celebrated their precious moment with the folks. They encouraged the men rowers’ team with their tremendous achievement. In men’s GB Rowing team, Greg Searle got his first WC
medal.
Matt Wells and Marcus Bateman have achieved five gold’s, five silver and one bronze medal in their overall sports career. During the contest, New Zealand stood third, whereas the Germany balanced on gold but stood second on silver.
At the end, Great Britain successfully won one gold and one silver medal in the Paralympics-class by the Olympic boats. All the 53 rowers included GB (Great Britain) squads and 34 British rowers will hopefully built their world record in UK by making this
magnificent victory of the best world championships ever.
The Director of GB Rowing team’s performance was extremely delighted by their victory and gave his comments that he was very proud of his team. He said that the team presented its world’s best championships performances ever and made a history by wining
a third consecutive Olympic class gold at the world championship. He further added that the coaches, the rowers and the back-up team should be regarded for their unseen struggle in support of victory.
In the final race, the GB women’s eight stood fourth and became extremely thwarted by that. On the other side, in lightweight men’s single scull Peter Chambers stood sixth in the race.
In the former season, Matt Wells and Stephen Rowbotham won a bronze medal while in this season, Matt Wells has won a silver medal with a new partner Marcus Bateman. Wells and Bateman were heading towards the line with very good pace but they had lost the
line by just over two seconds.
New Zealand made in 06:22:63, GB stood second in 06:24:21 and France stood third in the race. Dan Ritchie came back after an injury; he added that the victory meant a lot to him. This was the magnificent victory for GB’s Rowing Team that gave them a lot
to look forward to the next year.
