Great depression help ?!?

im writing an esay on the the great depression and its impact on Australia. I need help with the one paragraph. At the time of the great depression what sort of political devolpment was happening and the government response at that time? it would be great if you could just put some points, references, paragraphs anything that might help me

  1. thank you for answering my wavy curly question, but it wasnt exactly what i was looking for. i LOVE that hair, but mine is a bit different. i'm jewish so its real thick and unmanagable. those celebraty's hair stylists did their hair. they didnt wake up the next morning after getting it done and it looked like that. thank you anyway =)

Australia, with its extreme dependence on exports, particularly primary products such as wool and wheat, is thought to have been one of the hardest-hit countries in the Western world during the Great Depression.  Unemployment reached a record high of almost 29% in 1932, one of the highest rates in the world.

    An Austrailian Great Depression survivor recalls the hardship:

    People were forced into all sorts of tricks and expediencies to survive, all sorts of shabby and humiliating compromises. In thousands and thousands of homes fathers deserted the family and went on the track (became itinerant workers), or perhaps took to drink. Grown sons sat in the kitchen day after day, playing cards, studying the horses [betting on horse racing] and trying to scrounge enough for a threepenny bet, or engaged in petty crime, mothers cohabited with male boarders who were in work and who might support the family...
