Great to be back – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-Dinda-c1098 – Cricket News Update
Right arm medium pacer Ashok Dinda, is delighted after being recalled into the national side for this month’s Asia Cup tournament and is hoping to cement his place in the team with some startling performances in the upcoming quadrangular one-day series.
The 27-year-old Bengal pacer, who has not worn the Indian colours since June 2010, got a surprised call up from the BCCI selectors who met in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747
from March 11, 2012, also featuring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and Sri Lanka.
Dinda, who has played five One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals for India, said that it was great to be back in the national side, however he realises he has a long way to go.
"It feels great to be back... but it does not end here,” said Dinda after being named in India’s 15-man squad for Asia Cup. “I hope to get an opportunity (in the playing XI) and cement a place with a good show," he added further.
Dinda was also hopeful of a call up for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Duleepsinhji-c71867 Trophy campaign, where he
picked up 59 first-class wickets, most by any Bengal bowler this season. The tally also included his career best figures of 8 for 123.
Presently he is playing for Bengal in the East Zone leg of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vijay-Samuel-Hazare-c95227 Trophy.
"Yes, it's my best season... but there was no short cut to success,” said the right-arm medium pacer on the sidelines of a one-day match between Bengal and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Assam-c765 at the Eden Gardens. “A lot of hard work was involved. For a long time, I would bowl alone,
aiming at a single stump to hone my line and length. It has worked," he added further.
The fast bowler thanked the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 coaches and his teammates as well as his friends and fans for their support.
India kicks-off their Asia Cup campaign on March 13 against Sri Lanka at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dinda’s last appearance for the Men in Blue had also come in an Asia Cup match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
