GreatLife Golf to buy Abilene Country Club
GreatLife Golf & Fitness is ready to add Abilene Country Club to its holdings after the addition of Chisholm Trail golf course and Salina Elks Country Club.
President of Abilene Country Club confirmed the news in a press conference held on Tuesday. Bruce Dale said that 90 per cent of the members that make up the majority voted in favour of the deal.
Dale further added, “We hate it with our hearts, but we love it with our heads. That's the nature of what you would expect in a 90-year-old country club.”
GreatLife already owns 12 courses that lie in close proximity. The latest purchase would help the parent company attain economies of scale in their business.
Rick Farrant, the owner of GreatLife Golf & Fitness explained, “It's a lot better for those two courses (in Abilene) to work together than against each other.”
Moreover, the acquisition of the course would help in moving the fitness centre from Chisholm Trail to a more convenient place. This would strategically help in catering the clients residing in the area and help in cutting the maintenance cost for the fitness
centre. Apart from highlighting the cost-cutting model, Farrant said that he wanted to promote golf as a choice of healthy lifestyle for the locals.
For that purpose, GreatLife Golf & Fitness have decided to give an incentive to the families and new members. According to the details, no green fee will be charged from the players and they will only pay a one-time registration fee and a monthly charge
of $29, which would cover all the facilities available on the course.
Apart from working on Abilene Country Club and the fitness centres, the management has been busy in renovating the Salina Elks Country Club. New schemes have been introduced in the clubhouse which include discounted registration fee amongst other offers.
Members who bought the membership in January 2011 paid $25, which was half the price that would be charged from the ones who would sign up in February.
Farrant further said that his firm was in an expansion phase and therefore, instead of purchasing and running courses, the firm was thinking on the lines of franchising.
GreatLife Golf & Fitness will soon strike an acquisition deal with the Abilene Country Club to expand its empire of golf courses in the region.
