Greatbatch ready to quit if asked
The New Zealand team’s coach Mark Greatbatch has expressed that he will quit his job if it is in the interest of the team. He has admitted that the 11 consecutive loses have been shocking for him and the team but he also said that he is not a quitter. He
will only leave the job if he is asked to.
The team has been struggling but Greatbatch revealed that he had not lost hopes of performing well in the World Cup. He was assigned a job to prepare the team for the World Cup and he said that he would fulfill his task.
Greatbtch stated, “I have been asked to do this job through the World Cup and I am committed to do that. If it is in the best interests of the New Zealand cricket team to make the change, I would accept that change.”
Greatbatch has admitted that winning is most important and a team can only gain confidence and form if it is wining matches. Unfortunately for the New Zealand team, the things haven’t worked positively. The team is fast approaching their worst ever losing
streak and if the team is unable to perform in the upcoming series of Pakistan, there may be some last minute changes before the World Cup.
The last time New Zealand won a match was in August against India. The team had won the match by a margin of 200 runs and things seemed to be heading in the right direction for them. After that, the team was unable to win any of the other matches played
in the triangular series and then carried its dismal form to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 where they lost all their matches.
There have been suggestions of the induction of John Wright who has a good experience in the sub continental conditions. The chief of the New Zealand cricket has denied making any changes as he believes that it is too late to make any change.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 on home soil and hope to gain some sort of form and confidence prior to the World Cup. Their focus will be entirely on winning the matches and if they are unable to do that, the team might not be able to handle the
pressure of the World Cup.
Greatbatch has said that he will step down but only if asked. This means that he is not considering quitting himself and it is highly unlikely that the board will force him to step down at this stage.
