Greatbatch to quit New Zealand Cricket
Mark Greatbatch, the New Zealand coach is willing to step down, if he will be asked to do so. His position has been under scrutiny, following New Zealand’s 11 defeats in a row, one of their longest string of losses
Greatbatch said, “If it's in the best interests of New Zealand cricket to make a change, I'd accept that. At the end of the day it is about us winning games and becoming better. We are struggling to find that consistency and if it's me, it's me."
Greatbatch revealed that his position in the side is of a batting consultant, though he has been perceived in the public as a national coach. His job was to help the batsmen of the team, in terms of their technique and temperament against quality bowling
attacks.
He further added, "I feel for Dan at the moment. He is pretty battered and bruised but he keeps going. He was ill in that last game, but he kept it to himself."
Daniel Vettori has been retained as the captain of the Black Caps, however, the coach’s performance is under review after the Kiwis were whitewashed in the recently concluded One-day international series in India.
Previously, the Kiwis were clean-swept by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and NZC wanted them to improve their performance in India. The Black Caps then performed out of their skins and managed to draw the first two Tests of the series on Indian soil.
But things took a u-turn in the ODI series as India hammered the miserable looking Kiwi side and won the series 5-0.
Following their 5-0 debacle against India, New Zealand Cricket will be reviewing the performances of their cricket team comprehensively. In addition, NZC has modeled a cricket committee to look into elite cricketing matters.
The series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 was said to be the part of their preparation of the ICC World Cup 2011, though proved out to be a further debacle as they registered their second clean sweep in succession.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 provides
a great chance for improvisation.
Greatbatch, who helps Vettori in the selection process as-well further added, “"We were also going to try Brendon [McCullum] down the order for a couple of games with a view to getting an idea what our best line-up is, but he was injured too for a while."
