Question:

Greater Occipital Nerve Blocks (GONB)?

I received a greater occipital nerve block today because I have migraines. Has anyone else on here ever had one? If so was your neck sore as heck and swollen about 3 hours after it happened? Also did you have any other symptoms such as popping in your neck while turning it? Please list any other symptoms you might have had.

  1. I used to get thease every week!! I'm pretty expert if you ask me. I've had over 50.

The neck sorenes and swolen injection sight will last up to 24 hours. If you go to sleep try not to sleep under the injection site, or put something very soft under it. You will probably wake up with a lump there. I've had the poping of the neck, it's just because that nerve has been blocked, so when it starts to get numb, it doesn't pop, and you probably don't move your neck as much, I always get a pain in my neck if I move it to fast or far right after, so you get stiff. The popping is okay and normal.

My most common side effects were a numb head [What they're aiming for] and sometimes a numb face because I got one behind my ear as well. That's about it. If you're high risk for seziures you might get a small one, but ONLY if you are at very high risk. They really do hlep relieve my migraines tho. I really wish I was still getting them!! Good luck, hope they work as well for you as they did for me!!
