What part of my Answer don't you understand????????????????????

  6. wat an idiot.. barry bonds is no where near the best player of all time even with all the juice.......   mickey mantle to answre ur question

  7. Ty Cobb w/ career .366 batting average in 24 seasons.

  8. It is really quite a tough question. I think basketball is really the only sport with a true #1 of all time, that being MJ. However, I think it comes down to three amazing individuals. Those are Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Babe Ruth. All had unbelievable careers and put up numbers that people thought would never be breached. But out of the three, I do believe there is a clear cut winner, and here is my argument:

First of all, Babe Ruth not only had his monster hitting accomplishments, but he also participated in two 20 win seasons on the mound, while dialing up a career 2.28 ERA. These are pitching stats that would rival any of todays best. Aaron obviously has the most homers and RBI's out of the bunch, but he did this with over 1400 more at bats than Willie, and over 3900 more at bats than the great Bambino. But longevity was the key to Hank's success. Overall, their power numbers were very similar, although Babe did it in many less chances at the plate. But, the thing that really separates them is the contact portion. Ruth had a career average of .342, you just read that correctly, while Hank kept a .305 average and Willie had a .302 average. To go along with this, Babe had a career .474 on-base percentage and a .690 slugging percentage. To put that into perspective, Aaron had a career .372 OBP and .555 slugging, while Mays kept a .384 OBP and a .557 slugging %. All of these numbers are absolutely absurd, but as you can see, Babe's well outweight the rest. The only other thing that I believe could be factored in is clutch abilities. In their postseason career's, Mays had a career .247 average, Ruth had a .326 average, and Aaron had a .362 average although he did this in only 3 postseason series, while Ruth accomplished that average in 10 postseason series. This is my argument, now here is the verdict:

As you can see, all three of these individuals brought it to their respective ball parks day in and day out, and they all brought different aspects as well. Ruth had the pitching, Aaron had the longevity, and Mays had the defense. But to go along with their individual talents, they could all smash the ball. However, one of them is truly the best. My answer is George Herman Ruth. He is the most amazing baseball player that has ever ran onto a ball field in my opinion, and he was nothing short of astonishing. He brought the contact, power, consistency, intensity, fear, pitching, and yes, drinking. All three of these guys deserve to be in this discussion, but in my estimation, Babe outweighs them all!

  9. Babe Ruth

he could pitch and hit better than anyone in the league, and he was a drunk

  10. Unfortunately until they prove Bonds "cheated". It's Barry Bonds,Look at his numbers best all around. Average, Power, Speed, Defense, Arm. He was a complete player most of his career. Was he an a$$ oh yes. do i like him at all Nooooooo. He needs to be given his credit best of all time probable. Take off all you biased glasses and look at all the numbers.

  11. Ron Santo..........hahahahahahahaha,    Yeah right, maybe the easiest player of all time to make fun of

  12. d**k Pole:

    http://www.bofads.com/stories/sports.htm - he's a real player!

  13. Babe Ruth is my 1st choice because of what he brought to the game.

1.one of the best power hitters of all time

    2.an awesome pitcher

3.and Yankee Stadium( the house that Ruth built)

    honorable mention: Honus Wagner

  14. No question that it's Hank Aaron, hands down.  He was an overall player.  He won the Gold Glove, he was a home run and RBI leader on many occasions, a hits leader, a batting leader.  He also has a World Series under his belt, not to mention he is the all-time leader in RBI's with 2,297, total bases with 6,856, and is the "undisputed" home run king with 755 homers.  He also has 3,771 hits, third of all time, which means that if he hadn't had a single home run his entire career, he'd still have 3,000 hits, something that Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds didn't even achieve with 700+ home runs.  He's third in all-time games played with 3,298, second in at-bats with 12,364, tied for third with Babe Ruth for runs scored with 2,174, 9th all-time in doubles with 624, and 20th for slugging percentage with .555.  Need I say more, I think not.

  15. It's tough to compare eras, so I always think of it as who was the absolute most dominant in their own era...

Without a doubt, to me, it is Babe Ruth. He hit more Home Runs then entire teams for a time....He was a dominating World Series pitcher...His numbers and ability were basically unheard of at the time.  Even the best players today aren't THAT far ahead of the next tier. Sure, people will argue that if you put him in today's game, he wouldn't do as well....but I would imagine he'd be fine, especially if he has access to the same programs, facilities, etc as modern players.   I just don't think there will be another player who will completely dominate and change the game like George Herman did.

Babe Ruth hit .342, 714 HR, 2217 RBI, with 2873 hits...in 8398 At Bats...walking 2062 times for an OBP of .474! Only Ted Williams was higher...Ruth also has the all time highest slugging percentage (.690) and easily the highest OPS (1.1638). He led the league in HR 12 times, and RBI 7. He had 136 triples even!

Aaron had about 4000 more at bats (12,364), a .305 average, and an OBP of .374. He's one of the best ever...but he never dominated like Ruth did. They also didn't give Gold Gloves in Ruth's time (although, i'll say I doubt he would have won any, but we have no way of knowing). He led the league in HR and RBI 4 times.

I'm only picking on Hank Aaron here, cause I just don't get the argument for him as best ever. He was great, no doubt...but it was also his lengthy career that has his numbers where they are (longevity counts for something, yes).

As for Bonds...he was a great all around player...but when he became dominant on offense, he lost a lot of speed and defense.  I was impressed with him, regardless of whether he cheated (there really is no doubt there was use, just no admittance that it was done knowingly to cheat)...but he was doing it at a time when the records were being broken over and over again...the gap is not as wide from him and those around him.

Once A-rod is done, he might be up there for consideration (but I still don't think I could put him higher than 2 or 3 on my own list) But that's the fun of opinion based questions, we can interpret stats and careers any way we want. :)

  16. Babe Ruth.

    90 something wins 714hr

    nobody even compares

  17. Willie Mays is the greatest because he could hit consistently and for power, could run and was an ace at defense in Center Field. Once when he was younger, Eric Davis was thought to be the next Willie Mays but then all came to normal. Ken Griffey Jr. had that too at the beginning of his career but the injuries came in to hurt his ability to run.

  18. babe ruth... b4 micheal jordan, muhamad ali, and all those greats in sports... babe ruth is already on the top!!!
