Greatest jumps in the history of professional wrestling – 4th to 6th position
Some wrestlers risked it all just to entertain and get revenge from their opponents. These wrestlers jumped from heights that might be unbelievable for the average person. These insane jumps have been remembered in professional wrestling history.
The fourth greatest jump involves the high flying legend, the master of the 619, Rey Mysterio. Every wrestler tries to make a special debut by executing a different move, especially when he is debuting his character, and entertain the crowd. Rey Mysterio chose to defy the forces of gravity during his debut in Smack Down. Rey Mysterio was not even supposed to involve himself in the steel cage match between Chris Jericho and Edge.
Edge won the match but Chris Jericho called in for help from Christian, Lance Storm and Test. These four wrestlers started beating Edge in a ruthless manner. John Cena entered the arena to help Edge but the numbers game was still in Chris Jericho’s favor. This was when Rey Mysterio appeared on the scene. Rey climbed the still cage and delivered a double high cross body drop to end the carnage in the steel structure. The jump by Rey Mysterio was 15 feet high and really impressed the crowd. From that day onwards, Rey Mysterio developed a repute for high flying and taking risks which no one else can take in the wrestling world.
Next on the list is Jeff Hardy. If anyone actually defined the phrase “putting body on the line” then it is without any doubt the former WWE Champion. His mottos always revolved around living in the moment. Jeff Hardy was so reckless that his wrestling finisher called the Swanton Bomb involved him landing with his back hitting the opponent’s body. It was Summer Slam of 2009 when Jeff Hardy amazed wrestling fans around the world. Jeff Hardy fought with the Straight Edge Champion, C M Punk in a tables, ladders and chair match with the World Heavy Weight Championship on the line.
Both wrestlers pushed each other to the very limit during the match. But in a classic moment, Jeff hardy put C M Punk on the announcers table and delivered a Swanton Bomb from a 30 feet high ladder. It was catastrophic for bother wrestlers as both of them went into an unconscious state for several minutes. But it was Jeff hardy who suffered the most and was evacuated from the arena on a stretcher. C M Punk conveniently climbed the ladder and grabbed the World Heavy Weight title. Though Jeff Hardy lost this match, that moment will surely live forever in the history of professional wrestling.
Almost every lists of wrestler acomplishments as far as moves or submission maneouvers go, Under Taker is always mentioned in one way or another. The Dead Mans name has thus, also found its way into the list of the greatest jumps of all time. He has marked his spot in the 6th best jump of all time. It was Wrestle Mania XXV and the Under Taker was fighting the Show Stopper, the Heart Break Kid, Mr. Wrestle Mania and Shawn Michaels. It was an epic fight and more than 50000 people were sitting in the arena watching the match.
Shawn Michaels tried to deliver a Moonsault on Under Taker but the dead man suddenly moved away and Shawn fell to the concrete floor outside the ring. The Under Taker then decided to execute his own flying move as he ran in the ring as Shawn Michaels watched in disbelief while he stood outside the ring on the concrete floor. After gaining some momentum the Under Taker risked everything as he jumped in the air, crossed the top rope and tried to land on Shawn Michaels. It was a sight to see as the dead man was literally flying for a couple of seconds. The jump took wrestling fans by surprise and impressed every one.
