Greatest moments on RAW – Top four moments
During the 1950’s, very few people around the world were interested in the world of professional wrestling. But then, everything changed when RAW premiered on January 1st 1993 in New York. RAW, which is the premier show of the professional wrestling world changed the landscape of professional wrestling entertainment. The arrival of RAW started a new era when people watched weekly shows of wrestling with complete dedication. This is the story of the greatest RAW moments ever.
The greatest RAW moment occurred when Shane McMahon bought WCW - a rival wrestling corporation of the WWE. Shane McMahon and Vince McMahon then engaged in a bitter feud at Wrestle Mania XVII. The son wanted to take over the company of his father and end RAW forever. RAW was in great danger and wrestling superstars from WCW were eager to end this wrestling show forever. The feud went on for months and both parties finally settled over a match. It was decided that wrestlers from both WCW Monday Nitro and Monday Night RAW would clash with each other in a mega tag team elimination match. The team losing the match will end its wrestling show forever. It was an electrifying match and it ended when The Rock, representing Monday Night RAW, pinned Stone Cold Steve Austin who represented WCW and Monday Nitro.
The second greatest RAW moment involves the Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin and the corporation which comprised of Vince McMahon and the then WWE Champion, The Rock. Stone Cold was scheduled to meet The Rock for the WWE Championship at Wrestle Mania XV. When The Corporation was berating the Texas Rattlesnake in front of wrestling fans, Stone Cold entered the arena in a big truck. Stone Cold, who is known as a regular beer drinker, grabbed a giant hose from his truck and showered The Corporation with beer rain. It was a catastrophe for The Corporation as its members tried to escape the ring but the power of the beer fountain proved too much for them and they all fell one after another.
It feels like yesterday when the third greatest RAW moment occurred in the history of this show. Hulk Hogan entered the ring to address and berate the crowd. Hogan talked about his services to the wrestling world and then said that the crowd turned his back on him. The people were fed up for a moment but then everyone felt electricity in the air as the People’s Champion; The Rock entered the arena and confronted Hulk Hogan. It was like a dream come true to watch two of the greatest wrestlers of all time in the ring together.
The Rock offered a match to Hulk Hogan at Wrestle Mania XVIII to determine the absolute best in the history of the wrestling world. The crowd cheered from the bottom of their lungs when Hulk Hogan agreed to fight. The Rock brought more electricity in the air as he grabbed Hulk Hogan from his shoulder and executed his famous Rock Bottom finisher.
The fourth greatest moment of RAW started a fight which led to Monday Night wars between WCW and WWF. One of the most famous groups of all time, D Generation X, travelled on an Army jeep and invaded WCW which ran a rival wrestling show against RAW. This invasion by DX turned some hardcore wrestling fans of WCW into die hard followers of RAW. All members of D Generation X were dressed in Army clothes and they were chanting all kind of slogans against WCW. This was an unconventional move and earned a lot of ratings for RAW. D Generation X gathered a mob outside the building of RAW and raised their guns. Wrestling fans call that attack a golden moment of professional wrestling history.
