As everyone knows in america there is the white house, where the president lives. Now in Greece I believe Athens is the capitol like America's DC. But in Greece is there something like the white house? How does it work there?

I'm dumb to the government over there

  1. It's the Proedriko Megaro ( meaning the Mansion / Palace of the President ). Used to be the residence of the heir of the greek throne years and years ago.Today it is the president's residence. Although our presidents only use it for official purposes. For example when they have a foreign guest. All official meetings between the president and foreign visitors take place there.

The rest of the time our president lives in his own private home

  2. You know i dont know...but when we had the KING in greece his residence was the (TATOI) in athens.....i think it was said to now belong to the nation ..as the king lost all rights to his property?correct me if iam wrong....but in answer to your question since democracy was born in geece..i would say H BOULE...which is the big building just behind the memorial of the un known soldier in athens...

  3. Yes, it's in Athens and we call it the "Proedriko Megaro", but the current President (like most of his predecessors) has chosen not to live there all the time (he could if he wanted to), so it's used for official purposes only.

ADDED: I just saw that Katerina P has already given a correct answer.

Voule ton Ellinon, which was mentioned by the other users, is the House of Parliament, it doesn't have anything to do with the President.

  4. No there isn't a white house like yours... we have Voulh ton Ellhnon

but anyway.., here the government sucks......

Come to visit greece and forget Kostakis!
