Greece advances to final round of 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship
The final day of the European qualifier round of the 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship - Men took player in several countries simultaneously.
One city from every host country welcomed six teams in the final matches of the qualifier round. Three matches took place in each venue.
One of the matches that took place on April 15 happened in Bar, a city in Montenegro. The two teams that contested with each other were that of Greece as well as Belarus. The match between the two sides went on for quite a while and came to an end after
four sets. At the end of the competitive session, the win went to the Greeks at 3-1.
All through the entire match, the Greeks remained dominant as they won each of the three sets by a comfortable margin. Only the third set of the game saw the Belarus squad showing some skill but the Greeks remained close all through despite losing the frame.
The score board showed the following final set scores at the end of the day: 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, and 25-11.
The recent win has enabled the Greek squad to advance to the next round of the CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship that is set to take place in August of this tear. Two cities will be playing host to the final round of the CEV Juniors championship.
These are Poland as well as Denmark. In Poland, the matches will take place in Gdynia while Randers in Denmark will welcome the qualifying teams.
The first set of the match started off on even ground as both Greece and Belarus stood their ground. However, as the match progressed, the Greeks were able to speed on ahead and leave the Belarus squad trailing behind. Once the Greeks had the lead, it was
only a matter of time before they were able to bag the opening frame of the game at 25-19.
The second set followed the same pattern as the first one with the Belarus squad eventually losing by a good margin at 25-17. However, the third frame swung in favour of Belarus as they avoided a clean sweep but could not manage to take the match to a fifth
set by losing the fourth at 25-11.
