Greek Mike Arnaoutis knocks American Broderick Antoine out in the seventh round – Boxing News
Mike Arnaoutis, the former USBA light welterweight champion, is finally back on the win track and in his recent encounter with Broderick Antoine, collected an impressive seventh-round technical knockout win, in an eight-round bout held on May 2, 2012.
The event, headlined by the fan favourite bout between returning Vinny Maddalone and Chris Koval, was organised and promoted by Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing. The ring for the bout was stretched at Russo’s on the bay, Howard Beach, Queens, New York, United
States and the above duo co-headlined the Wednesday night showdown.
The bout can be somewhat depicted as a one-sided sparring session since Mike possessed a clear upper hand over Broderick not only in the statistics aspect but also in the technical ones as well.
The Greek proud Mike was in his career’s 33rd bout and boasted 23 wins with just 10 by knockout. He has lost seven bouts in his career and collected two draw decisions as well.
Mike is trying to overcome his four-bout loss streak that has substantially tarnished his resume. Due to some reasons, ‘Mighty Mike’, was unable to perform as per the calibre and lost four consecutive bouts.
At the same time, his losses are not being dubbed as his mistake since his opponents were men like Tim Coleman, Delvin Rodriguez, Demetrius Hopkins and others. In fact he collected his last career loss from the fists of Danny Garcia.
After his last loss, Mike collected an easy unanimous decision win over Shakha Moore and was entering the ring with much motivation on his side since Broderick was coming from two consecutive losses.
Broderick, 26, was entering in his career’s 25th bout and was able to emerge victorious in just 11. He has collected just five wins by knockout and has collected 12 losses in his career.
The young lad is going through a tough time since he was entering the ring with four losses and just one win in last five bouts and was seriously de-motivated. The bout kicked off and Broderick did strive hard to shock Mike but his efforts went in vain.
Even Broderick’s southpaw stance did not help him out in the ring and he was unable to connect substantial powerful jabs. Broderick did show a lot of resilience but he was no match for the Mike’s thunderous jabs as a result, after the end of the seventh
round the bout-referee decided to halt the bout since Broderick was unable to continue as he was seriously injured and exhausted.
With this win, Mike has collected his career’s 24th win whereas Broderick, unfortunately, has received his 13th career loss.
