  1. I love greek mythology!!!!!

Perseus was the son of Zeus.  His mother was locked in a chamber by her father, King Argos(i think) who didn't want children.  But Zeus came to Danae(spelling) in a shower of gold and she had Perseus.  But Perseus was locked in a wooden chest with his mother and sent to sea.  He was pulled up by a fisherman and was raised on the island.  But the ruler of the island, the king, grew fond of Perseus's mother, and wanted to mary her.  But Perseus didn't want his mother to be taken so he told the king that he would serve him.  Perseus was sent to kill the three Gorgon sisters.

The first Gorgon sister Medusa, had been a lover of Poseidon.  But when Poseidon and her made out in a temple that belonged to Athena, Athena got mad and cursed Medusa, who had been a pretty young mortal.

Perseus had the help of Hermes and Athena, who were sent by Zeus.  Hermes gave him winged shoes and a cap of invisibility.  Athena gave him a shiny shield and a magic bag that could hold anything.  Perseus flew to the island where the Gorgons lived and proceeded to kill them.  He had to look int he reflection of his shield so he wouldn't get turned into stone by the gorgons gaze.

As he chopped off the head of Medusa out sprang the winged horse, Pegasus, which later Bellarophen would capture.  But as the horse came out Medusa and the Gorgon's woke up, from their slumber.

Perseus took the head of medusa back and turned the evil king into stone, but not looking at medusa himself.  thus he became king.

  2. Perseus was mortal, and so could theoretically have been killed by an arrow/sword/what-have-you. In the story his only real weakness is his accidental slaying of his grand-father as predicted by the Oracle at Delphi all those years ago. So, I suppose, inescapable prophecy (though really more of his grand-father's flaw, than his own). He does have a bit of a hasty mouth when at Polydectes' banquet (which is what gets him in the whole mess with Medusa to begin with), however that can be excused considering Polydectes' designs on Perseus' mother.

As for a cinch, a cinch is a piece of equipment that helps hold a saddle in place. It is sort of like a belt, that one pulls tightly to prevent the saddle from falling off. To say something is a cinch is to say something won't slip, something is certain. Nowadays the expression has morphed slightly to mean that something is very easy to do (still retaining the thought that success/victory is guaranteed/wont slip.)

  3. I agree with her  ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
