Greek dance?

i know there are tons of dances. in particular i wanted to know what are the names of the songs to the dances. for instance "ligaria" would be good for kalamatiano. or at least some of the artists. like i know yannis parioss' ikariotiko. anyone know any artists for the hiotiko ballo (the dance with couples) or vlaha? help is greatly appreciated. and don't send me websites all about greek folk songs because i already know enough about them. thanks =]

  2. The artists for most of the traditional dances are not well known. I don't know anyone who has sung the hiotiko ballo for example. For vlaha, if you mean vlaha Naxou, try finding a cd by Irini Konitopoulou or Maria Skoula.

    By the way, ''ligaria'', the nisiotiko song, is not a kalamatiano, it is a sirtos/ballos Naxou.

    Try searching in a music shop to find cds by traditional artists. If you are or you come to Athens, Greece, Metropolis music store in Panepistimiou street is a good choice.

    Yet, the best place to find cds of artists who have sung traditional dances is the shop of the Museum of Popular Instruments in Plaka.
