  1. i am a biiiiiiiig fan of greek food!!! my favourite is some (usually pork) meat on a skewer...its like a kebab but i like it better!! and its served with chips, which is a bonus!! also they do greek salad, with big chunks of cucumber, tomatoes, peppers sometimes, feta cheese and olives! also some more complicated dishes are moussaka (with minced meat, aubergeen, potatoes and tomatoes), and pasticio (kinda like pasta bolognese but cooked in the oven), and also they love anything caserole!! also sweets are sweet!!! but i think the cooking can vary from place to place and it might be slightly different from this. anyway, one peculiar thing about greek cusine is the richness of flavours!!

    xxxx hope i helped

  2. the Greeks traditionally take their time whilst eating, more of a get together than a meal. Starters are typically in the form of dips served with pitta or fresh bread:

    Tzatziki - yogurt and cucumber

houmos - chick pea, garlic and olive oil

    Taramasalata - fish roe, beetroot

main courses can be lamb, fish or meat based as mentioned

    in previous posts;

Stefado, Moussaka, Kleftico etc. if you are unsure then you can try a Meze which is small plates of different choices. normally the restaurant asks for a minimum number of people for this meal.

Desserts are great: Baklava - honey and phylo pastry

    Loukoumathes - cinnamon and honey

    I hope this helps.....have a great night.

  3. Fried Kalamari

    Grilled Octopus

    Horiatiki Salad

    Lamb Fricasse

  4. if its your first time get a chicken souvlaki or a greek salad with spinach pie..  baklava for dessert!

  5. GREEK

  6. love greek food, lived in greece for few years and ate out loads at small traditional greek places beside the sea, not a tourist restaurant but a basic little place but food soo good where the locals ate.

Is nice the way is lots of small dishes, greek salad, tzakiki dip. mouzakka (think is meat dish but is lots of aubergine in it), lots of meat cooked on the barbecue Souvlaki is delicious.

    Always is kalimari (fried squid)

They do a lovely side dish is large butter beans cooked in delicious tomato sauce with herbs, tasty as side dish.(not like baked beans) can't remember the name.

Stuffed vine leaves, meat cooked with herbs@rice@wrapped in vine leaves., sooo tasty.(would recommend this one)

Lovely Chicken cooked barbecue style with herbs, so tasty.

Best to have a selection of small dishes with pitta bread and dips.

Desserts are delicious Baklava(spelt wrong no doubt) lots of their pastries are rich in honey, almonds and sweet and sticky and delicious.

    Amygdalopita traditional greek nut cake.

Gahlaktubooreeko, greek egg custard dessert baked in filo pastry(my favourite)

Ouzo is the traditional greek drink but be warned is very strong, has a liquorize taste.

Wish going too no greek restaurant here and love the food.

My pal went to one recently outside London and said had a great night as with the Greek Dancing and smashing of the plates, don't really see this in Greece but is fun and she said was best night and a great atmosphere.

Hope you have great night and hope this helps.

  7. Greek food is gorgeous

Moussaka - lamb based stew with aubergines

Tzaziki - Yogurt and cucumber dip

Souvlaki - lamb or chicken cooked on a rotisserie

  8. Order Lamb shish-kebob if they offer it. They marinate the meat and it's wonderful. My FAVORITE restaurant is Skorpios II in W. Palm Beach, FL....and they serve the kabob over a Greek salad with dressing to DIE for. Have a wonderful time!!!

  9. feta cheese olives -lamb its all nice food apart from the squid

  10. Mmmmm;

    Keftedes ( Spicy meatballs)

Sheftalia ( Spicy minced meat sausages)

Dolmades ( Vine leaves stuffed with minced lamb and vegetables) These are all mainly starters.... You might also like to try grilled Halloumi; goats cheese!

Stifado; this is like a beef stew, but a lot of vinegar is used

    Arni; again, a beef dish

Lamb kleftico; my favourite...lamb shank cooked the traditional way for hours in a clay oven;melts in your mouth

Souvla; this can be pork, lamb, or chicken...very tasty

Obviously they will serve vegetarian, and fish dishes, or why not try a'mezze'? This is little tasters of virtually everything on the menu...but be prepared, in traditional Greek or Cypriot restaurants, there can be as many as thirty courses.

There is so much to choose from, and all of it is good....i don't think you'll be disappointed....have a good meal....enjoy!

  11. chicken shawerma, hummus, feta cheese, falafel, pita bread, beef and lamb kabobs.....they also use alot of vinegrette dressing and olives,...you'll have a good experience with the food

  12. Mediterranean food.lots of vegetables, spices, good wine and well-cooked meat.it's really tasty and healthy.kind of like Italian cuisine, only without the cheese

  13. stifado is very nice like a beef stew with onions, if your unsure most restaurants serve English any way, but be adventurous and try geek, they will explain what it is when you are ordering

  14. Greek food

  15. You like it greek lamb caserole or maybe kleftico.

This one to be very taste.

  16. LOTS of nice food

the salads are good as is a Moussaka.
